Our vine rows of Syrah grapes are planted in the heart of Southern Tuscany, within the municipality of Foiano della Chiana, in the province of Arezzo. Maestà di Santa Luce is a young dynamic winery, the flagship of the family farm, Illuminati GMM, leader in Italy in the field of fruit-growing.
The little shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary overlooks the vineyards, just like a mother looks at her children: with eyes full of love. Santa Luce, a village in the municipality of Foiano della Chiana, is a lovely spot of the Valdichiana valley in Southern Tuscany, where the gentle beauty of the countryside embellished with olive groves and vineyards offers unique sensations.
The shire Maestà di Santa Luce towers above the hill covered with Syrah rows of vines: over seven thousand stocks per hectare in the two vineyards, the "old" one planted in 2002 and the "new" one planted in 2003.
Maestà di Santa Luce is the place and logo of a business project that is based on the love for the land, the respect of environment and represents the flagship of the family farm, Illuminati GMM, a leading company in Italy in the cultivation of fruit trees.
“Maestà” is the Tuscan name for votive shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary, where travellers used to stop by in the past to pray. And it is the name of our Syrah wine because we wish to enhance both the connection with the territory and an old tradition to pass down.
